2-Thursday: Disappointment

So why a disappointment this Thursday? We'll get there eventually.

Work was relatively irrelevant and somewhat quiet and anticlimatic after the mayham yesterday at Mount Alvernia, so that's been cut out. Left work, arrived home, got changed and ducked back out fairly quickly... to meet the others in Chinatown!
Advert for the Bird Park, at Chinatown MRT. Isn't that a pretty advert (unlike Sydney's rubbish)

Met up with them at the Gardens on the overpass over New Bridge Road, and spent the next hour wandering the various stalls and laneways that comprises Singapore's Chinatown.
Lost (in thought)

Dinner tonight was an unmitigated disaster: we wandered up and down the laneways for so long, we just managed to get to Maxwell Hawker Centre at 8pm - only to find most of the stalls were closed/closing. Including the Tian Tian Chicken Rice stall... which I had really been hoping to try. :(

Long queues for the Soyabean pudding

Oh well, so we headed back to the main parts of Chinatown, and stopped to try out this "Chong Qing Grilled Fish" along Mosque St, Chinatown. Lesson to learn: when at a Mando-speaking place, remember to ask "si bu si lar de?" (Is it spicy/chilli?).

Our order: Dry Pot Chicken ('medium' spicy), Fried Chicken cubes (spicy) and Cumin Lamb (extra cumin-y) was simply a spice blast.
One questions whether this was "Fried chicken cubes with chilli", or "Fried chilli with chicken cubes". Seriously - the chilli outnumbered the pieces of spicy chicken!

Below, you see the resulting destruction: our attack on the dishes, and remnants (with our taste buds annihilated).
Cumin lamb was all gone. The chilli chicken, on the other hand...
We barely touched the Dry Pot Chicken - just a whole tub of chilli =(

Needless to say, a trip to McDonalds was in order for recovery food - my Raspberry flavoured ice-cream!

Well, that's my adventures for another day!
Summary: I don't like spicy. And that I'm still hungry. Right NOW!!
